Karen,
Good Luck!
I found out about NNEP when I was calling around talking to individuals in the
business before I got my machine. It is an organziation that provides support,
training, and access to case pricing. Initially I joined for the case pricing
and then was able to attend the NNEP conference in Greensburg NC in the spring.
It was truly AWESOME. Lots of sessions geared for beginners. Great speakers,
fun, truly motivational! Wonderful oportunity to meet people and network.
They have a garage sale for members to sell any products / materials. FUN! It
was held at the Embassy Suites and I think they do that every year. There are
lots of vendors who set up to display and sell Friday night and Saturday
morning/early afternoon. Instead of one LARGE SPACE each vendor is in a suite
and you have lots of time to spend with each vendor...asking lots of questions,
etc. It made it much more personal. The next spring conference is in Lincoln
Nebraska. You can visit the web page at www.nn
ep.net If you decide to join, and would pass on my name that would be GREAT!
They give a discount on membership renewals for referrals. (but that has
nothing to do with a strong endorsement...just a bonus!)
Aaron was kind enough to give the link to access embroideryline. I found that
6-8 months after being on the Amaya list. Initially it's overwhelming because
it can be 40 - 60 messages in a given day.
Now I look forward to reading all the posts with my coffee in the morning...or
late at night (minus the coffee). Most get immediately deleted but lots of
information to add to my 3x5 card file of sources for specific items. You may
not need something now...but might down the road...then you kick yourself for
not writing down the info you read some time earlier. It's a great resource to
learn what's going on beyond embroidery, as many of the list are involved in
silk-screening, sublimation, promotional products,etc.
Have also received lots of assistance and guidance from individuals for
sourcing of designs, products, services, etc. Made a friend who I e-mail or
call on occassion.... you should enjoy it and find it incredibly hellpful. It
is also a GREAT REALITY CHECK as the list is owners of ALL MACHINE TYPES and
you read that they all have problems from time to time... It's amazing that it
also took me 4-6 months to find the amaya list when I bought my machine. Both
lists provide similar and extremely valuable information and support! So glad
to be on both!
