This is response to Tom's query-
You can also use the RGB color conversion feature in Design shop. This works
for any thread maker that will supply the Pantone equivalent numbers. You
can then go to http://www.reeddesign.co.uk/pantone2rgb/index.html where you
can find the Pantone to RGB conversion guide. You can then take the RGB
information and enter it in Design Shop to select the closest match amongst
many popular thread makers.
In Design Shop, open a new page and select a color from the color bar at the
bottom of the page. Right click and select PROPERTIES. That brings up Color
Properties dialog box. In the COLOR CHART drop down box, scroll down to the
bottom of the list and select System RGB. You will see three sliders to the
right and boxes where you can enter the RGB formula numbers. Enter the RGB
numbers and then <APPLY>. That sets the RGB color to which all the other
colors in the list will be compared. Go back into the COLOR CHART drop down
box and select the available thread brand names. The colors for that brand
will appear on the right in a new color scale. Select MATCH CHART and the
closest match to the RGB formula will appear in the window along with the
thread makers number for that color immediately underneath. Of course ARCs
thread chart is the first on the alphabetical list in the drop down box.
This may sound a bit tedious but it will only take a few minutes to master
and save you having to trundle out a handful of swatch cards every time you
have to match a specific color. Many businesses and organizations have gone
to great expense to come up with specific colors to represent them and
demand exacting standards for their suppliers and vendors to follow. Messing
their corporate colors up can kill your business reputation. This tool can
really work to your benefit if you can show to a prospective corporate
customer that you can match their corporate color scheme. This tool can be
of enormous benefit to Design Shop users for such times.

Tom,
I believe on the CD with either the Amaya OS or possibly DS, there is a ARC
Thread Converter program. In this program, you select the brand of thread
and color, then match, and it comes up with the closest color. There is
also a thread chart converter available and I want to say this is at
www.annthegran.com . Hope this helps.

Subject: [amayausers] colors
Hi -
I'm relatively new to embroidery and have two
AMAYA XT machines. I also have the Dakota
collection and am trying to match the ARC poly
colors to the Dakota collection. I see Dakota
has a match to Madeira thread but not to ARC. I
did also buy the 288 thread collection of ARC so
that I would be able to match almost any color.
Can somebody guide me on how to match for example
Lt. Red in Dakota to the actual spool in ARC
poly.
thanks
Tom
