The old style Madeira cones do not fit the Amaya thread rack. They are too
narrow and too tall. I got some old EMT (I think) cone rods and replaced the
shorter ones that come on the thread rack. That helps with the "too tall"
part of the problem. Then I jam the cone down as far as it will go with a
small amount of fabric wedged inside to help stabilize the cone. This
prevents too much shaking and stops any spinning. It's not pretty and you
have to check every so often to be sure that the thread hasn't shaken off
the cone and gotten trapped underneath.
I use Madeira all the time. I am on file with them as needing the new style
cone which is shorter (not enough) and wider (almost perfect... I still jam
the fabric inside).
Hope this makes sense and helps you figure out how to use the thread.

Subject: [amayausers] Madeira Cones
I recently acquired some spools (large, tall, 5500m) of Madeira polyneon
thread from someone who gave up her business. Does anyone use this thread?
How do you get it onto the Amaya? The base does not go over the bottom of
the thread holder and the top is too high to grab the old thread. Thanks.
