My name is Dorothy and prior to obtaining my Amaya I had only used a home
embroidery machine. Here is a little of my experience:
When I purchased my machine, I didn't do a lot of homework on different
machines. I had, however, read many articles about tension and how to correct
this
and that. I looked at the Amaya and was excited about the technology it used.
I'm very familiar with computers and was pleased that the Amaya had a direct
connect (no disks, limitations on # of designs, and ability to watch the design
on a big screen). I figured if I ever wanted to take my machine on the road,
I'd get a laptop. I've had some thread breaks but I could always figure out
why (poor digitized design, sticky paper, needle not inserted correctly). By
far
the majority of the time, my designs sew out great at speeds around
1100-1200spm. What has really made the machine for me is being able to adjust
while a
design is stitching out. I can change material thickness if I notice the thread
looping too much. You can also program different speeds and thickness
throughout a design. [What's also helpful is to be able without a doubt to
document
your settings for a particular design and fabric so you can duplicate exactly
on subsequent runs).
When it comes to support, I've had my machine over a year and I had to have a
tech visit only once. The tech was here promptly. By the way, I had my
machine up and running the day I received it and finally went to training 9
months
later (I was using the machine all that time). The software has great
multimedia help.
I remember reading about keeping a log of maintenance in a trade magazine so
I marked that article so I could make my log but I never made one as the Amaya
OS prompts for all maintenance....and it walks you through what you have to
do (I love this!)
Again, I can't compare to other machines as I have not used anything else.
Just my 2 cents.
