A word of caution for newbies like myself: You have to create your own hoop
definitions for these accessories. Follow the instructions VERY CAREFULLY and
be EXTRA CAREFUL beyond that. You sense a story coming, I am sure...
After being quite proud of myself that I have my TCS1 clamp calibrated and
center and aligned just right, I needed the TCS2 for a new project. I set about
creating the hoop definition (complete with bitmap graphics- very snazzy) and
got to the part of entering the offset. I sat looking at the clamp (about 3"
high and made of steel) with my finger on the enter key, and applied the change.
Garbage in, garbage out, as they say: my tired brain had translated a 2"
adjustment in the WRONG DIRECTION, and the powerful Amaya servos obliged by
pushing the entire needle case off the front of the machine, where it hung by
the color change threaded rod, the needle bars hanging out at various levels
and me in a complete panic.
Long story short, I spent the weekend becoming much more familiar with the
machine and its inner workings. I finally got the needle case all the way off.
I had to straighten the threaded rod, an operation in which I had very little
confidence in my chances of success. I re-assembled everything and went through
the needle depth and hook-timing verifications, and it all actually works again!
My wife said I am REALLY lucky it went back together- I reminded her this was a
team thing. She just said I'm really lucky again...
And the moral of the story is: never set the clamp to move more than a little
bit at a time, until you know which direction it is going to go!
