Connie,
Usually any item that refers to reduced oil means that the metal has been
impregnated with oil or grease. This is normally found in bronze bushings. I
am not sure what Melco has found in  a reduced oil, rotary hook. I wouldn't
hesitate to purchase one. Until you brought up the question, I will have to
admit that I did not know they had one out.

Do you have a sewing machine store close by? I bet they could help you out
with getting the hook cleaned out.....
