[amayausers] Re: Help with EMC10T

Judy,
Tech Ed here.
I worked on an EMC 10 not too long ago and this machine had a similar
problem (among others). My overall assessment was that the Grabber motor
was demonstrating signs of being on it's last leg and that it wouldn't be
cost effective for the customer to purchase a new motor (if even available)
and pay the labor as well to have it replaced. Her trimmers were giving her
troubles too and the same applied because of the age of the machine and the
version machine that it was. In short, she is now up and running but having
to hand trim instead.
You should know that this is a common occurrence with most mechanical
equipment in many industries. Even Microsoft isn't supporting older
versions of the Windows operating system. It's just a part of the
"attrition" process.

Hey Judy,
While you are waiting for Melco to open or a tech to email you, take a look
at
http://www.melco-service.com/Torubleshooting/EMT%2010T%20Trouble.htm
scroll down about 2/3 way down the page (or do a CNTL+F) where it says
GRABBER TROUBLESHOOTING. Grabber problems are common with EMC and EMT
machines. More with EMC though...
This may help you.

BTW if Melco is listening, some webmaster needs to learn how to spell
troubleshooting (see the URL) Torubleshooting ???

A couple problems with one of my Melcos - EMC10T:

The grabber hesitates dragging the thread back - it moves, but goes real
slow. When the machine is turned off & the grabber is turned manually, it
doesn't bind so nothing is stuck.

Next - the presser feet all stop in a low position. I can use the color
change to change needles and pop the presser foot back up.

This afternoon, 3 needles broke & the presser foot was bent back - I never
saw it happen any of the times.

Now the grabber gets stuck on the presser foot when coming down.

I'm assuming it's all related somehow, but dont' want to even try til I find
some solutions.

Can one of the techs offer some email help? You could send it directly to me
if you'd like. Thanks.
