[amayausers] Re: Help Sewing Caps

Hi John,

I will add a couple of things here since Rod is in a meeting all day. We
have had good success with most of Otto Caps and ones I have ordered from
SanMar. I do know that when Rod digitizes for caps he "beefs up" the area
that goes over the center seam and slows down the sewing speed in that area.
A lot has to do with the digitizing of the design for that cap. Sometimes
hedoes a "fill" in that seam area so the embroidery has something to sit up
on top of. As for the specific caps, we do not have our catalogs with us at
the moment so I cannot give you the specific caps we use most right now.

If Melco employees / trainers are listening.... There should be a totally
separate course dedicated to nothing but doing hats as part of your AMAYA
training.

I'm a year and a half into this and find doing hats quite frustrating. Only
on a very few occasions have I produced something I would feel comfortable
giving a client. We had a tech come out because we were convinced our
machine was defective because of the way it did hats... Even after that, we
are still dissatisfied with the results and aren't doing much better.

I know selecting the right hat has something to do with it as does keeping
the height to 2 inches or under. Can a hat expert on the AMAYA suggest some
good hats/brands that work well?
