[amayausers] Re: Help

HI,

I am just now catching up on the conversation.

The Amaya software does not use a Windows standard Ethernet protocol or
setup to communicate to the machines. The Amaya OS software uses a third
party driver that bypasses Microsoft Windows protocols all together. This
driver looks for an Ethernet adapter so is not going to work on a USB to
Ethernet type of setup.

I hope you still plan to get the Ethernet PSB this morning.. :) If the
computer you installed it on has other items connected to the Ethernet port,
such as the Internet, then even if you are going to leave it in this
computer, you should add the additional Ethernet Card and put the Amaya on
it. It is recommended to isolate the Amaya networking from other networks
and have it on its own connection.

Also, it is recommeded to set the Ethernet adapter to 10 Megabit, Half
Duplex and lock into this setting. Windows defaults to an automatic setting.
To set the adaptor to 10 Megabit, Half Duplex start your Window's Control
Panel by clicking on START/Control Panel. Select Network Connections.
Right-click on the Ethernet Adaptor for your AMAYA network. Select
Properties. Left-click on the Configure button. Left-click on the Advanced
tab. In the property listbox there will be an entry referring to "speed" or
"line speed". (All network adaptors are not the same so it may require some
investigating to find the correct entry.) Select the appropriate entry and
change the setting under Value to the closest representation of 10 Megabit,
Half Duplex. Click OK.

You should turn off the network bindings for the AMAYA network. Network
bindings are what tie the Windows Protocols and network characteristics to
the Ethernet Adaptor and they can inteferre with the proper operation of the
Amaya communications. To turn off the network bindings, start your Windows
Control Panel. Select Network Connections. Right-click on the Ethernet
Adaptor for your AMAYA network and then select Properties. On the General
tab, make sure that all entries in the This connection uses the following
items: are unchecked.

Let me know if you have any questions.
