Is this just happening on this design or on other designs as well? Just f=
rom
what little information we have at this point, if the needles themselves
have been eliminated as the culprit, it just may be a problem with the
rotary hook. It may be slightly out of time, it may have a small small bu=
rr
on the point of the hook , etc. There is a NEW upgraded hook available t=
hat
has helped to eliminate some of the breaking/fraying problems experienced=
 in
past hook designs. Melco is continually striving to better the machine in
many areas and the rotary hook design is one of them.=0D
=0D
Is it happening on all thread colors? How old is the thread? Sometimes th=
e
hook can split the thread and start the fraying, or what looks like frayi=
ng.
 The machine will run and the thread will start bunching up until it no
longer can go through the needle eye and then break. If you catch it befo=
re
it breaks, you will see that some strands of the thread are still being
picked up with the bobbin......=0D
=0D
Have you changed threads? What speeds are you operating on? Is the breaki=
ng
happening in the same place in the design, or is it random?=0D
=0D
If you would care to send me the design, I would be happy to try it out o=
n
our AMAYA to see if the same problem would exist on a different machine. =

Is this happening on all needles? Any major mishaps like hitting a hoop,=0D
broken needles etc?=0D

I am having a thread fraying problem that I have been unable to solve. I=0D
am=0D
sewing a completely re-digitized design with small letters and an=0D
outline=0D
graphic in satin stitch. The letters appear to be Micro Block caps and=0D
lowercase at .22. He digitized the letters too. My digitizer is an old=0D
hand=0D
with an excellent track record. I am sewing 5.6 oz jersey. I started=0D
with 2=0D
oz cutaway and no solvy w/ a 80/12 BP. I had some better luck with=0D
doubling=0D
the backing but that didn't completely fix the problem. I changed to a=0D
70/10=0D
BP. I am using ARC 40 poly. I checked the needle to make sure it was not=0D
in=0D
backwards. I cleaned under the sew plate and made sure the oiling=0D
service=0D
was current. I don't always get a trim even though the knife actuates.=0D
There=0D
appear to be no spurs on the trimming knife. I changed the materiel=0D
thickness to 3, then 4, 5 and even 6. I get looping at 6 and thread=0D
breaks=0D
at 4 and fraying no matter where I set it. I ran the design through=0D
design=0D
filter with default 1.5 and low then went to medium and finally high. I=0D
sent=0D
the design back to the digitizer and he added some trims but said he=0D
couldn't find any problem areas in the digitizing. I tried sewing a test=0D
with block and the recommended settings. I tried several other alphabets=0D
and=0D
sizes all within the recommended parameters. I still get the fraying and=0D
goobers. This is a 2003 machine with only about 100 hours sewing time.=0D
Anyone have any ideas?=0D
