Thanks Ed!! That is the first time the issue has ever been explained in
layman's terms so the average person can understand!! The Amaya manual sure
didn't say it so eloquently!!! You always jump in at just the right moment!!!

Subject: [amayausers.com] Force Download - Yes or No???

  Hey guys,

Allow me to shed a little light on this subject, because it seems to be
causing some grief.

Force Download is a feature in software that is intended to used to get the
machine/software out of a "stuck" situation. It should be turned "OFF" under
normal circumstances.

You will find that when the computer and Amaya machine is booted up ( turned
on) .... whatever the last settings were in software and in the machine's
memory will "reload" themselves so that you can "pick up where you left off"
from where you were last sewing. For example: this could mean either after a
storm knocked out your power or if you have to sew 100 shirts and only finished
50 last night and plan to do the remaining 50 this morning.

If you happen to encounter a "bug" or "corrupt file", - and turning the
entire system off and then on again doesn't fix your problem, the "Force
Download" feature might be able to help. What this does is reloads from the
computer to your Amaya machine all of the essential files that were originally
installed the first time you installed software or the last time you upgraded
your software.

The downside to leaving this feature "turned on" all the time is that
whatever design you were sewing before the lights went out or whatever you were
sewing last night will not be there waiting for you when the machine finishes
booting up. Simply because those "essential files" were "Forced Downloaded" to
the machine and overwrote the files from the last time the machine was on.

If you choose to leave "Force Download" on all the time, it won't hurt
anything. But if you lose power during sewing, you will have to spend a bit
more time trying to figure out how to "pick up where you left off". And that
is another subject for a different post.

  Good Luck to you;

  Ed Orantes

Debbie I sure can't advise on this matter. When we got our machines the
trainer
set it all up for us, what he did was in the settings tab , checked the
first one there
that is about the Force Download, which means it will force the design to
return to
    the origin.

Now I've heard both opinions about force download. Some say check it,
some say don't. I read my manual again, and I was to check it when I first
loaded the OS, but I swear it says to be sure and uncheck it after the system
is loaded??? Can you advise?

Yes it is on its network & computer. I'm not sure about the Force
Download
being checked. Where do I find this?
