Hi Lynn,
I'm relatively new too so not sure I can give as much or good advice as the
'seasoned' listers but what really works for me on a high pile fleece is to
run the lettering twice. First time is with a high number value density just
to get the pile to lay down. I think I adjust the stitch length too. I use
the same or close color as the garment for this. Then I run the lettering
again at regular values for the item over the top (all one .ofm file). The
zig-zag underlay would be the same concept but I never seem to get the
results I want so use the other method when necessary. I'm always concerned
that with the higher pull comps. and satin stitch on fleece the pile is
going to pop through the stitching. As I get better at this I'll hopefully
get the hang of the zigzag underlay and what lettering works the best with
it.
It all seems to be a learning curve and the listers give the best starting
points. You have to take it from there and figure out what will work in your
situation.
Good Luck!!
