As Jeff mentioned all of your devices need to be compatible with each other
(I wasn't aware that the Amaya uses a 10mbps card) So upgrading your network
will not improve the speed in which the designs are sent to the machine.
Hint to Melco techs!!! But it will improve the speed you download files from
the internet (if you have broadband) It will also improve speeds moving
files from computer to computer. How big is your network? and how is it set
up now? Send me a list of all your equipment (routers, how many computers,
hubs, switches, type of cable, etc) I can tell you what needs to be replaced
if your interested in doing it. My guess is over the few years, everything
will be gigabit speed on networks will be standard. More and more companies
are slowly moving towards it.
Most of the equipment will say on it what speed it is or you can find it
online by typing in the model number. If it is older than 3 years old it is
probably 10/100 speed. then do an online search for the same product and
look for gigabit speed. As far as the computers go, you will probably have
to purchase gigabit NIC cards or buy a computer with one installed. I know
Dell sells a lot of computers with that NIC card pre-installed if you were
thinking of replacing an old computer.
If it's slow it may also have a virus or spyware so make sure your antivirus
software is updated and not expired and scan your system. Also download some
anti-spyware software and scan your system and remove anything unwanted. I
suggest Spyware Doctor or Microsoft Anti-spyware (I run both and they are
free) Alot of times this will speed things up. If you have Windows XP, you
should really have at least 512mb of memory for doing graphics on it and a
Pentium 4 processor. Hope this helps.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the information. Is there a diagram you can send me or post.
I feel my network is pretty slow and would like to see how I can upgrade it.
Best Regards,
Veena.
