I can help at least w the stabilizer...
We make very heavy, thick and dense tearaways specifically for caps - 2.5 and 3 
ozs
As w all products it is designed for single layer application
I am not sure if this wll resolve your problem(s)
As they may be digitizing related but at least it will help to eliminate 
stabilizing as the problem.
