The Melco Bravo is here http://www.melcousa.com/index.php?s=106

I don't believe it comes with a cap unit so plan on about $1000 to add that to
it. (Call your salesperson for the exact price and find out what it does and
does not come with.) I think The Tajima NEO and SWF C-series may come out to be
the same price after you add all the options. If you plan on doing any
traveling with the machine, the SWF is the lightest machine at 140lbs.

I would suggest calling all 3 companies, keep in mind they all have 'show
specials' at the trade shows so you may do better there. There is a show in
Atlanta this weekend (and one in Dallas later this month) so ask them what the
'show special' price is.

Kathy,
Also, I have the ability to purchase a Brother PR620 at cost but I can't find
it in myself to buy one because it would drive me crazy with it's limitations.
It's a cute machine but knowing it inside and out, I wouldn't want to own one.
That's not to say it's not capable of sewing a nice stitch but when comparing
apples to apples, I prefer the Melco, Tajima and Barudan. And when comparing
price, features and ease of use, I prefer the Melco Amaya.

Brother will say it's semi-commercial because they will sell more. However
there are parts on the machine that you can't even lubricate without taking all
the covers off. And this should be done by someone who has been trained at
this. So if you are not taking your PR600/620's in to be serviced on a regular
basis, they will be running dry and may give you troubles sooner rather than
later.

Brother makes a very solid commercial machine, like a tank, and it gives a
beautiful stitch but the software isn't user friendly. I don't see many in the
field. However, how the PR620's are marketed, they sell like hotcakes. And
yet there are quite a few available on EBay and Craig's List from people who
thought they would go far.

Thanks for the reply Ed. It is my understand that the six needle machines are
considered "semi-commercial." But nonetheless, they don't do everything I
want. I have looked at the Bravo machine but I think it starts to approach the
Amaya XT--can you tell me what features are missing on the Bravo that the Amaya
has?

Kathy,
I believe the EP-4 does NOT have a cap driver available for it. So most caps
will be out of the picture.

I'm also certified to service Brother machines including the PR 600/620 and I
can tell you that this particular machine was designed for the home sewer and
not necessarily the commercial sewer. That's not to say folks aren't using
them in a commercial enviornment but the machines may not fare as well over the
long haul.

If you're looking to have better features but don't want to spend bigger bucks,
consider the Amaya BRAVO machine. It costs about what you paid for your
Brother machine(s) but is very much a commercial machine. I'm afraid you might
find the EP-4 a step back from your Brother machines as it is smaller and
limited in it's features.

Wishing you luck,
Ed

Does anyone on this list have this machine? If so, what do you think about it.
I currently have two Brother/Babylock six needle machines and along with
everything else I do they are working out great for me. But, on occasion, I
would like to do a bigger jacketback design than my machine allows. It seems
that the EP4 will do that. Also, I'd like a little bit bigger hat area as
well. So, I don't want to spend too much as these are just "desired" add-ons.
If you have this machine what problems have you had and do you think it would
be worth adding to my shop?
