[amayausers] Re: Down Amaya & extended warranty

I just heard from melco; the tech will be here tomorrow with the parts
arriving in the AM. Yea!!!! I probably won't get that home machine out after
all
(just getting a design to the Windows 95 laptop was going to be a challenge as
it only has a floppy and my main computer doesn't).

On the extended warranty, I can't remember when I got the notice from melco,
but I had contacted my sales rep before that. From this board I learned a
mother board costs around $1500 so the $720 annual for my one machine was a no
brainer and it seems to be paying off. I don't know that I want to know how
much this would've cost me (well, I guess I do but yikes if I didn't have the
warranty.....I don't want to think about it). I'll let you know the final
figures. I can't remember if labor is included; I know travel is not but parts
are (not all but those I would need a tech to install probaby are--the motor
replacement is definitely a tech install).

Also just want to send kudos to melco for their extremely fast response!

Dorothy,
Ahhhhhhhhhh, that's a darn shame and it scares me to death. This is the type
of thing extended warranties are made for but what are the chances???
Hopefully you won't be down too long, thank God for your home machine!
My warranty will expire at the end of September and I have been struggling
with the idea of buying the extended one. How far in advance does Melco send
out an offer to purchase the extended warranty? I haven't seen or heard
anything yet and don't want to wait until the last minute.
Does anyone know anything about this?
I would be curious to know how you come out $$$wise on this Dorothy, keep us
posted.
