I was the one looking for a computer a while back, and we ended up with
a Dell with the Pentium chip. We also went up to the mid level desktop
(I can't remember the name of the line).

We've had the "disposable issue" with an HP computer we had before we
bought the Dell. And most everyone we spoke with suggested Dell first
for reliability and service.

But I wanted to add this post because my cousin, whose an IT geek
showed me the consumer reports, and of the major manufacturers Dell was
leading in most every category of reliability and service. So, I would
be careful not to have too much better expectations with any other
manufacturer. All manufacturers have problems with their computers,
and I've been told more so with the lowest end options.

Thanks for the info on the cleanings and the fan monitoring!
