Hang in there Edna. It does get better. Clean living and pure thoughts -
that's the answer!
Set the presser foot to one click above the lowest setting, material
thickness at 3 or 4 if you use 2 oz backing on light woven fabric. Be sure
the thread path is unimpeded by thread looped around the rollers. Be sure it
is following the correct thread path. Check the rollers for wax build up or
grooves. Replace any with grooves and clean any buildup off with alcohol and
a soft cloth. Set the spindles about 1/2 an inch above the thread cones.
Keep the speed at about 1100-1200 spm if you are using poly thread and 1000
to 1100 for Rayon. Be sure the needles are installed exactly as recommended
in the operator's manual with less than a 5 degree turn to the right from
front dead center. Try running the AMPASSXXX test design again. Your tech
should have run it before he left last time. If AMPASS runs well then it may
be a design problem. If AMPASS runs OK then run your design through the
stitch proximity filter in Design Shop and try again. I use 70/10 needles
but they tend to bend easier on heavy fabric and prolonged high speed
operation. On small text (under .25 inch) I use a 65/9 and 60 wt thread. Set
text at the default settings. Unless you have a specialty font/alphabet, use
one of the block types. Set the pull comp at 130% or higher and density at
the default setting. Try it on scrap first. Don't stretch the fabric. Just
keep it taught. Keep your chin up and try it again. You aren't alone in this
fight. Let us know what happens.

Subject: [amayausers] Continuous problems with sew outs
Hi all,
Well, I thought all the kinks were worked out with my machine. Had it a
whole 5 weeks now and still have not been able to sew out anything to make a
buck. After sewing out 6 samples (yeah, it took that many) to make sure
that my threads, stabilizers, lettering density, etc, etc. were just right
for an order for my kids' orthodontist & his staff. I kept getting frays,
changed needles, changed threads, changed stabilizers, densities, and
everything else I could think of. The last sew out was fair, only frayed
twice and I had to stand over the machine to catch the incomplete trims. On
the small lettering, it didn't fray or break, but the final trim was
incomplete. I had to stitch the lettering at 550 to 600 stitches per
minute. Well, put the first lab coat in, the thread frayed, missed multiple
trims, looped in several places; I wasn't about to "unstitch" it so I
continued until it finished. Stitched the small lettering with some
fraying, and on the final trim, it didn't cut all the way through, even
though I added another just in case. I had to turn it over and pull the
loops to the back. I'm not impressed with the result at all. Hope I don't
have to replace the coat, don't know where he got it. And I'm not touching
the expensive shirts he wants done as long as this machine is doing this.
The tech was here about 10 days ago and replaced the knife as well as making
adjustments, then I didn't use it for about a week due to my shoulder
surgery. It did fairly well for about a day, then started it's messing up
again. No change in fabric, design or anything else. I'm so frustrated I
could scream, feeling like I might have made a mistake? Like I should have
kept my Toyota? Could I have gotten the only lemon in existence these days?
My concern is I can't have the tech here every week, need to get some work
done, and the 90 day thing has about 50 days left. Anybody got any
suggestions? I've been embroidering for years, double checking my hooping
since I got the Amaya as well as the presser foot height, tension, etc.
BTW, the symptoms get even worse when I try to use sticky stabilizer, so the
fast frames set I got is a waste at this point. Is anyone able to use
these? I'm really at my wit's end, have no idea what to do now. I wanted
to drop these off tomorrow afternoon when I took my son for his braces, but
looks like it's not gonna happen. Was planning on going to Plano this week
for workshop, but wondering if I should bother, I'm so upset. Thanks for
letting me vent and Thanks in advance for any advice.
