[amayausers] Re: Computers

OK, I didn't buy my Amaya OS dongle at Office Max! (So it was a misplaced
modifier. I'm sorry Mrs. Harris.)
But here's a link to the dongle extender I was talking about.

I remove them so that if my computer is stolen, I still have my dongle. I
keep the software at a different location, too. That way, I would only have
to buy a new computer, reload the software, plug in my dongle and I'm back
in business. Replacement of expensive software most likely is not covered by
your insurance.

Extenders are USB adapters that are female on one end, male on the other.
You plug the dongle in on the female end, and the male end goes into the USB
port on your computer. The last one I got is for the Amaya OS dongle, which
I purchased at Office Max in the store. I could not find it on the website,
but the scanned number on my sales receipt is 722868565186. It's called a
flexible USB adapter and it's made by Belkin.

Mary,
can you tell me what you are talking about for the extenders? Is this a
cover for the ends? thanks! You remove these nightly then so in case
anyone would break in they cannot run the software, correct??

Do any of you remove your dongles and take them home with you at night when
you close up shop? Or what do you do??

Thanks1

I have several Dell's and they all have UBS ports on the front of the
computers including the old Pentium 1.3mhz. My newest Dell supports USB2.0.
It has 10 USB ports in the system, 8 in the back and 2 on the front. I use
the ones in the back for things I do not need to remove on a regular basis
such as printer, Melco dongle, keyboard, mouse, etc. The 2 up front I use
for my flash drive and digital camera. With USB2.0, I can upload a couple
hundred pictures from my digital camera to USB flash drive in less than 2
minutes :)

Yeah - cool stuff huh? Gets to be a pain reaching back behind the computer
in the dust bunnies etc. ;)
