Hi All,
I am just catching up on this conversation.
Version 4.02.041 centers the design to the sewing field, (dotted lines),
not the hoop. You will notice that the gap between the dotted lines and the
hoop edge is bigger in the back than at the front when looking at them on
the screen . This is done for added clearance needed for the back side of
the presser foot assembly. As you have found, it can cause problems with the
thought that everything should line up on center. It makes sense that it
should. We originally did it this way to try and give the largest amount of
sewable space possible in the hoops and try and make it so hitting a hoop
was a little harder to do. The intentions were good, but the reality of it
is that it is much easier to hoop garments and line things up when it is all
based on the actual center of the hoop.
In the latest version 5.07.023, we changed the sew field so it is centered
to the hoop. This now makes it all center as it should. In doing this, some
hoops lost a little sew field which may cause a problem where designs that
just fit before, may not fit the same hoop now. It is a give and take
situation and hopefully the little bit of loss to the actual sew field will
not cause problems.

Paul,
This is process of elimination, so one down more to go.
The first thing we all need to know is what version of Design Shop and
what version of Amaya OS are you currently running ?
I just checked our machine and it appears to be off also, it is a new
machine to us and we have not gotten to use it very much. I had not noticed
this until today ,when I was trying to center an arrowhead design down the
center seam of a cap. Kind of a pain.......
I just spoke to John Hansen at Melco in regards to this problem and that
is the first thing I was asked-----what versions of OS and Design Shop am I
running.
I have the 5.07 version of OS (just installed it) but at present I am
still running the 4.02 version of Design Shop. John suggested that I do an
uninstall of the 5.07 and re-install the old 4.02 version of OS , just to
check whether or not the problem was present prior to installing the 5.07 OS
version......will let you know the outcome ......
John leans toward it being a software issue, rather than a machine
problem. It is possible that 5.07 and 4.02 in combination is causing this to
happen. John is going to check with Jeff Banks for a follow up.
I will be looking forward to their input.
More later.

sew the design in the "center" according to the software (both Design Shop
and Amaya OS). Before I remove from the hoop I can see it is not on center,
check it with a protractor and ruler, it is off! Remove from hoop, take
measurements using the crease formed from the hoop for a more accurate
measurement, it is about 2MM off to the right and 2MM low. Bizarre....
