Yes Erik,
The bobbin basket is supposed to rock side to side just a little bit.
Have you changed out the entire bobbin case and bobbin with a different one?
Your false thread breaks are probably caused by too much thread being delivered
by the acti-feed system. Why this is could be several different reasons. Some
to consider are:
Bobbin too tight
Hook support out of adjustment
Thread feed roller surface worn or slippery
Thread feed pinch roller not lubricated sufficiently
Thread break detection system not functioning correctly
Take up lever action
Thread path not smooth or threaded correctly
backing too thin
needle is tearing hole in fabric as it sews (bad needle, columns too narrow, or
density to high)
etc..
Change your needle, swap bobbin case & bobbin with other machine, use three
layers of cutaway for practice sewout, and sew 1" Block letter I's with edge
walk underlay. This will be a simple design that will eliminate your design as
a potential problem. The three layers of cutaway act like one layer of fabric
and two layers of stabilizer.
See what you get and let us know.
Good Luck,
