I'm working on 5-panel soft poplin hats which I do not like because the design
usually puckers a little. I have found a solution that is working for me and
thought I would pass it along for what it is worth. I use the WACF and a 2005
Amaya.
I place my stiff hat backing behind the buckram panel, next to the hat fabric
and hoop. I turn the sweatband out all the way around to get a good grip on the
hat and then pull the top and sides down in back and clamp the material. You
want a smooth looking front. This method has given me good registration on all
designs, to date. If the top is still high enough to flag a little, the machine
will stop for a thread break but the thread is not broken. Just push down on
the hat's button and push go on the machine, it should finish with no more
problems.
Thanks to all of you for the help you all have given me. Hope this helps
someone.
