[altroots] web & listserv management (Modified by Allen Welty-Green)

Dear ROOTS members,

This was sent to the listserv last Tuesday, but apparently I was
unsubscribed from the list when I changed my admin status, and this
message never got through to you:

Dear ROOTS members,

As of today, I no longer manage ROOTS' listservs and website. Any
questions, concerns or problems you have should be directed to Carlton.

This was not my choice.

I have thoroughly enjoyed using my skills and talents on ROOTS' behalf
for many years now, in various paid and unpaid capacities. During my
tenure as journal designer, I participated in the transformation of the
journal from a sparse internal document to a high-quality publication,
both from a design and editorial perspective. I created the altroots
and rootsexcomm listservs, both of have served this organization well
for many years. I transformed our website from a static brochure-type
site to a fully interactive, regularly updated site packed with
resources and information. I developed our online Annual Meeting
registration capabilities. I added streaming content to our tour page.
I set up a blog for people to post thoughts and observations about the
Katrina disaster.

I could go on and on with the work I have done for ROOTS, much of it on
my own initiative, based on my understanding of the organization, its
mission and its needs. I have taken it to be my personal mission to be
an interface between ROOTS and the technological world. I believe
whole-heartedly in ROOTS' mission and the good work it does, and I hope
at some point, the organization will evolve to the point where it feels
my services and dedication are once again of value.

Thank you all.

Allen Welty-Green

PS - if anyone feels the need to communicate with me about this, feel
free, but please do it privately and not on the listserv.
