[altroots] student looking for project

Hey ROOTers, I just got this from a student &
thought I'd pass it along....anybody got room for
a young and passionate volunteer??

>Hello There,
>I am a theater major and student of Jan Cohen
>Cruz at New York University. I just talked to
>her today and she informed me that you might
>be creating some community-based arts projects
>related to Hurricane Katrina relief. I am taking
>a year off of school and I am very interested in
>working with you on some/one of these projects,
>especially ones involving children.
>I have worked with numerous theater companies
>and schools in Chicago and New York, making
>theater with my peers and children.
>I am currently interning at the Chicago
>Department of Cultural Affairs, assisting with
>theater programming for city-funded theater.
>However, come January, my internship will end,
>and I would love to return to making theater as
>opposed to programming it.
>Through my experiences, I have come to the firm
>belief that community-based art is a vital and
>healing force in all its forms, and I would love
>to be involved in its role in the relief effort.
>Even if you are not working with hurricane
>victims, I would be very interested in working
>with you on other projects you may have on your
>plate in January, on.
>I am willing to work multitudinous hours,
>without pay, as long as there is a VERY
>inexpensive place for me to eat and sleep.
>I am attaching my resume to this email, and I'll
>copy it at the bottom, in case it doesn't go
>through. And please feel free to call Jan as a
>reference for me: 212.998.1574.
>Thank you very much,
>Marisa Wallin
