ANNOUNCEMENT
You are invited to a free public Forum on "Arts Boards that Work" presented
by the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund, Tuesday, July 9, from 5-7pm at
Boynton Auditorium (Courtyard Level) in the Goizueta Business School at
Emory University.  Free parking is available in the Fishburne Parking Deck.

This Forum will explore the practices and dynamics of successful arts board
leadership, especially in times of crisis and change.  There will be a
reception at 5pm, with the Forum beginning at 5:30.   The Forum will be
moderated by Hellena Tidwill, arts advocate and management consultant.
Members of the panel include:

* the current artistic director and the founding director of ACTOR'S
EXPRESS, Wier Harmon and Chris Coleman, joined by board chair Kirk Rich, to
talk about their approach to the succession of artistic leadership and
transition from founding director.

* John McFall, artistic director of ATLANTA BALLET, joined by board members
Lynda Courts, Sam Moss and Beth Holder (pending), to talk about their
challenges and successes in handling debt and managing their fiscal
recovery.

* Veronica Njoku,, to talk about exemplary board practices from her
perspective and experience as director of the FULTON COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL.
 
This forum is one in a series of National Arts Forums, a project of the New
York-based Arts and Business Council, supported by generous funding from
the MetLife Foundation.  The Atlanta Forum is coordinated by the
Metropolitan Atlanta Community Foundation, a partnership of The Community
Foundation for Greater Atlanta and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.
