The North Mississippi Storytellers Guild &

The Oxford/University Depot is the venue for this year's Double Decker
Storyfest at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 29. Visiting tellers June Caldwell from
Pontotoc and Doris Jones from Madison join North Mississippi Storytellers Guild
tellers and musicians Rebecca Jernigan, Anne Gilstrap, Wendy Garrison, John
Schuster, and Adrian Baron-Robbins with stories and music for grown ups (who
may bring their children). New features will be telling a tale in English and
Spanish featuring Elizabeth Contreras and a griot drumming workshop offered by
popular Square Fair performer Charles "Wsir" Johnson at the close of the Square
Fair under the storytelling tree on Saturday, April 30. The storytellers will
continue the Storyfest at various times all day Saturday at the Square Fair on
the grounds of First Presbyterian Church, downtown Oxford. Older children and
adults are encouraged to sign up for the Griot drumming workshop by e-mailing

Decker
Storyfest is funded in part by the Mississippi Humanities Council and the
Yoknapatawpha Arts Council.
