MIAMI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FINAL SUBMISSIONS DEADLINE SEPTEMBER 23

The Miami International Film Festival (MIFF) is accepting submissions for the 23rd annual Festival to be held March 3-12, 2006. The final submission deadline is September 23, 2005.

Submissions are open to first- and second-time directors in three juried competition categories including:

•  Dramatic Features – World Cinema Competition
•  Dramatic Features – Ibero-American Cinema Competition
•  Documentary Features – World & Ibero-American Cinema Competition

In addition, a film must make its Florida Premiere at the 2006 Festival and must have been completed after September 2004. The Festival will accept films that have screened in up to two other Festivals ( U.S. or International).

Cash prizes will be awarded to the Grand Jury Prize winner in each of the three competition categories. Cash prizes will also be awarded to the Audience Award winners in both the Dramatic Features and Documentary Features categories.

Submission fees are as follows:
•  Early Submissions (before August 19, 2005): Features $30, Shorts $15
•  Submissions (by September 23, 2005): Features $40, Shorts $20
•  Local Filmmakers pay Early Submission fees through final submissions deadline

Submissions are also being accepted for Short films not in competition. Short films will play out of competition and are documentary, dramatic, or animated films of 5 minutes or less.

In addition Invitation-Only categories include:
•  Gusman Premieres, a showcase of extraordinary stories from emerging or established filmmakers from across the globe with wide audience appeal and stellar casts.
•  Official Selection includes dramatic and documentary films from around the world by filmmakers with a distinctive voice who have directed more than two films.
•  On the Edge – Late Night Screenings include films that are edgy, surprising, shocking…for the fun of it!
