[altroots] Juvenile Justice Appropriations

Greetings friends and colleagues,

Most of you my or may not know that I currently serve as the Co-Chair of the
Federal Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee.  We have been fighting a
proposed severe reduction in Juvenile Justice Budget for some time.  This
week the Sub-committee on Commerce, Justice and Science begin their markup.
Please find attached a copy of the appropriations alert sent out by the
Coalition for Juvenile Justice.  If you are so inclined please feel free to
reach out to your appropriate representative(a list is included) and let
them know what you think.  These dollars are the monies that are portioned
out to each state and territory to support successful long term and new
innovative programs in the areas of juvenile crime prevention and
intervention efforts, that have included Mental Health issues,
Disproportionate Minority contact, alternatives to secure detention, life
skills training and many more.
