[altroots] Re: Fwd: Can you help ask the hard questions?

I am not inclined to sign up to surveys by email, so I'm not.

But I just wanted to say that I think I'm dreaming all this. How can it
possibly be happening? After Vietnam, it seems impossible that Bush can just
go start a war with somebody who has not attacked us or anyone else.

As I was driving around DC last week I had my radio tuned to the Senate
Hearings about Iraq on C-Space and Saddam does look extremely dangerous.
Even the liberal Senators are saying we have to stop him now or we will
regret it big time. there was a lot of very very credible testimony from
scientists who have defected and who say we will suffer mightily when (not
if) Saddam unleashes what he's cooking up. He apparently cares nothing
about his own people, so germ warfare is inevitable over there and probably
here too.

I wish there was a way to stop him, but it seems utterly unprecedented that
Bush is talking openly about a pre-emptive strike. We have always had SOME
kind of pretext for interfering with other countries in this way, not just
stopping them from doing something to us or to somebody else. If this
happens, there will be plenty of noise worldwide. If he tries to draft
Americans, things will erupt enormously. I don't think we'll have to
organize people by email. They will simply run into the streets.

Saddam says he wants to go down in history as the man who destroyed the
state of Israel.
