KNOXVILLE, TN. ­ (September 6, 2005) The Carpetbag
Theatre presents The Show What You Know Festival 2005
beginning October 10th running through October 16th.
The Show What You Know Festival is a celebration of
community knowledge and expertise through the arts.
Participants may experience a full week of
community-based arts events including Spoken Word,
Community Song-Building, Performances and Workshops.

The mission of The Carpetbag Theatre, Inc. is to give
artistic voice to the underserved particularly in the
communities of place, tradition, and spirit which
constitute our audience.  We address the issues and
dreams of people who have historically been silenced
by racism, classism, sexism, ageism, homophobia and
other forms of oppression. For over thirty-five years
we have told stories of empowerment, celebrated
African American culture, and revealed hidden stories.
