Scott,
That worked-I shut the computer down!
Thank you very much!
Now, I hope you just enjoy the rest of your day!
Sally

Sally, I'm checking all possibilities ... have you unloaded JAWS and/or shut
the computer down since encountering these problems?

  Scott

    Scott,
In Outlook Express, as I arrow up or down unopened messages, JAWS says,
"selected."
    Thanks,
    Sally

      Sally,

When you open the applications where you are experiencing this problem,
make sure that the program is maximized. Press alt+space, followed by x. Which
version of JAWS are you using?

      Scott

        Scott,
Yes, Outlook Express and Internet Explorer. Perhaps this started after
a recent update of JAWS. JAWS will read only if item is selected when
attempting to go forward or backward by line or word.

Sally, is this behavior occurring in multiple applications? Have you
attempted the keystrokes in more than one program, such as Word, a web browser
like Internet Explorer, notepad, etc?

            Hi,
JAWS will not read with up or down arrow, only continuous reading
with Insert + 2. Neither can I read forward or backward a word.

Does anyone know what might have happened?

            Thanks for any suggestions.

            Sally
