Erin,
The password thing might be part of Outlook Express.
The next time it asks you, tab and see if there is a check box to save the password.

Now everything is fine.
I do have another question, though, in regards to sending. Every time I send a message from GMail and OE, I have to reenter my password before the message will send. 
Is this something GMail does, or is there a way to stop it from happening?
