Hi all,
Regarding the impending daylight savings time changes, a couple notes:
1. If you use the automatic updates feature of Windows, then you've likely
already received the necessary updates, and your computer clock will adjust
itself at the appropriate time/date.
2. If you don't utilize the updates feature, or you're just uncertain
whether the update has been installed on your machine, go to the following
link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931836/
On this web page, locate and activate the link called
Download the Update for Windows XP package now.
On the subsequent page, you will be asked to validate your copy of Windows.
To do this, locate the continue button and activate it. On the next page,
navigate to and activate the download button. When asked if you want to run
or save the file, choose run, then follow the prompts to install the file.
When the process is complete, you may be asked to restart the computer to
finalize the installation.
If you use Windows 98, and possibly millennium, (I can't recall for sure),
support for these older operating systems has been discontinued by
Microsoft, and you will have to manually adjust the daylight savings time
rules. If you have questions about that, write to the list and I believe I
can locate a tool which will make the changes automatically for you.
