[accessibleimage] Re: websites with tactile diagrams

We've put together various 3D models over the years using the swell paper and
braille paper methods I mentioned earlier. However, of late, the most exciting
way has been to use the Velcro-edged polygons from geometro. I have a set of
smaller plastic polyhedra already formed, and each student selects one to
"duplicate." Then, my students try to put together a net of the correct number
of faces and form the selected 3D version. Once they've easily done the cube,
tetrahedron, and octahedron, they are eager to try the dodecahedron. Those who
can master that, quickly move on to the icosahedron.

I'm going to try and attach two pictures of some happy students doing this, but
I'm not sure that the list can handle it.

Hi Sharon, Robert, Alan and Susan,

Thanks, great tips/links. Keep 'em coming.

  Regards,
  Lisa

P.S Speaking of polyhedra, we had a nice course with students with low-vision
making a Dodecahedron from folded moduls
