[accessibleimage] Re: two questions

Ike and Vince, I want to thank you both. Together you answered both of my
questions very thoroughly. And, thank you Vince for providing your personal
observation on the braille medicine labels.

Sincerely,

Sylvie

Hi Sylvie,

I think the French company you are referring to is L'Occitane. Check out
this link and see if it gets you pointed in the right direction.

I'm not sure about your other question. I know there are some in the US,
but I don't know about the EU countries. You might try contacting RNIB.

Hi Sylvie,

Well, there are some interesting issues!

This page talks about Braille labelling for medicines in the European Union.
http://www.honeycombconnect.com/People_In_Life_Sciences_(P.I.L.S.)/document_5325.ashx?page=Compliance_Column&datasource=397

I had no idea, but since October 2005, all E U countries have been obliged
to have all prescription medicines labelled in braille (at least on the
outer box) with their name and strength.

Looking at 5 medicines in my house, I find 2 of them are labelled in
Braille, one probably unreadable and the other well done. Well, 2 out of 5
isn't bad!

Also, patient leaflets are supposed to be available in formats accessible to
blind and visually impaired people.

Of course, these labels have to be done in the language of the destination
country.

It will gbe interesting to know whether my local pharmicist knows about
this! I certainly didn't, and so I'm glad you asked and I looked up some
answers.

On the perfume question, you might like to read these 2 pages:-
