[accessibleimage] teaching certification/ training

Hi,
my name is Novie. I am an art teacher (although i am not teaching art right
now). I have been interested in the art world of the visually impaired
community. At one point in my completing my Fine Art degree (at SAIC), I was
suddenly drawn to the world opposite of what I was accustomed to - the
two-dimensional art creation. I love the process of painting and drawing that I
could not help but questioning the conditions of experiencing and creating these
with impaired vision. I was then drawn into creating artwork using and/or
referecing braille in both tactile and illusionistic texture; but have not been
able to spare the time to throroughly grasp to develop my ideas since I began
teaching.
I am still immensely interested in both the visually impaired and Art, as well
as education. I have been trying to find out information as to wher I could be
trained or receive a certification to teach art for the visually impaired. I
currently hold an Illinois Visual Art teaching certification from K- 12, but am
working in Indonesia due to visa complication. I am looking into living in
Chicago. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could receive
certification to teach (art) to the visually impaired?

Sincerely,
Novie Joe
