[accessibleimage] Re: tactile perception of currency notes and bonds etc

U.S. dollars are more difficult because they are virtual identical through
touch.

We've devised a method of folding for my students, but unfortunately when
researching this proven method, no one said there was an actual method!  It is
very individualized.  The folds are pretty easy.  flat, half length, quarter
length, half width, quarter width once folded half length--each of these is in
order for us--1,5,10, 20, 50.  We really never had a $100 bill to
differentiate, but another fold could be done.  J :)

Ann, just on UK currency notes, which are relatively easy to tell apart.....

With your middle finger slightly bent inwards, rest the long side of the
currency note against the joint between the finger and the palm. Take a
mental note about where the top edge of the note comes to. For me a £5 note
reaches the bottom of the top middle finger joint, a £10 note reaches the
top of that joint and a £20 note reaches slightly beyond the end of my
middle finger. Obviously this will work a bit differently for each person.
