Hi,
Forwarding the following from Partho Bhowmick.

Hi Lisa

Thanks for including me in your mailing list
My workshop on photography for the blind would start from
Oct 9,2004

The concept of photography by the blind is very hard to be
accepted by the
blind and sighted. My first lecture on the photography to a
group of
visually impaired was interesting interactive to generate
excitement for
joining the workshop

To know more about my photographic work and workshop please

To successfully associate photography to the blind,
understanding their
visual perception and cogitative abilities are very
important. I'm in
process of searching for more information on it

I would like your members of the mailing list to given their
valuable
inputs on ways of assessing visual characteristics in the
blind, who once
had sighted life

1. Assessment of visual perception in regards to -

a. recognition of objects - size, shape & form and texture
b. pattern of recognition like seeing one object at a time
c.distance between the viewer and objects, between different
objects
d.visual discrimination - subtle and obvious
e.brightness and contrast sensitivity
f.extent of field of view and depth of field
g.color perception

2. Assessment of ability to create mental image
3. Assessment of ability to project an mental image on paper
or photo

Please circulate the above to all members for for their
contribution

With best wishers
Partho
