[accessibleimage] Re: importing pictures into DBT 10.6

Hi Alan,
Converting a .bmp in TraceMe (part of TGD-Pro) etc depending upon your starting point
can give a result where you have to do a lot of editing. Any text
labels will have to be entered again in QikTac -Text doesn't convert.
Tracing is one way to go as mentioned on another list.
If however your starting point is a simple line drawing, say an outline of
a country for a map converting works fine, but might be some editing.

Best,
Lisa

I plan to post this on several lists ? I apologise in advance for

I am trying the evaluation version of DBT 10.6 and would like to emboss
imported graphics from DBT to an Everest to see how viable this process is.
I do all my graphics creation in MS Publisher and am able to save each
image from that program as .gif .jpeg .tif .png .bmp or .wmf, none of
which are importable into 10.6 (it only imports .brg .sig and .vim which
I’m assuming are proprietary formats).
I know that QuickTak can convert .gif to 10.6 and downloaded it free from
the Duxbury site but couldn’t get it to run. My employer will not buy
TGD-Pro (the other prog I know of which will do the conversion) on my whim
until I prove the quality of the resultant embossed image and viability of
the process.
Is there any other way (or piece of software I can use) to do this
conversion?
TIA Alan
