Hi,
Following is a drawing method for visually impaired using Wikkistix, SVG
(scalable vector graphics), scanners and a bit more. This is an idea so
would like any comments on it.
The idea is to draw a picture with Wikkistix on an pre-embossed graph
paper, or on plain paper
That is, starting out with a picture that can be felt before converting
to a digital picture file.
The resulting digital picture file can be different types and produced
in different ways.
Method
1. draw a picture on a piece of paper with WikkiStix. Draw on either
pre-embossed graph paper or plain paper.
2. The picture is either scanned or
3. the coordinates of the picture are entered as text and saved as SVG.
by using a text editor, eg notepad etc.
The scanned picture can be printed out and embossed with swell paper.
The SVG picture could be embossed out as is with say a Tiger. As a SVG
image one can do a whole lot more with the picture.
Since the Wikkistix picture would be very clear, would think a R2V
program, program that would take a raster files from the scanned
picture and converts to a vector file like SVG, would work pretty good
and one would end up with a SVG thereby jumping over entering (x.y)
coordinates.
Any tactile picture could use this method. One doesn't have to use
wikkistix. Just as long as it would fit into a scanner.
Using the graph paper one is independent of a scanner, by making a SVG .
This is an idea would like to get any feedback as to holes in logic.
Regards,
Lisa
