AFB Invites Input on Proposed Guidelines for Educational Media Description
The American Foundation for the Blind partnered with the National Association of the Deaf and its federally-funded Described and Captioned Media Program (DCMP) to develop guidelines for the description of educational media. In 2007, AFB worked with service providers and experts in media
description to develop a set of guidelines for educational media description that will increase the availability of predominantly visual curriculum to children and youths who are blind, have low vision or deaf-blind.
The Proposed Guidelines for Educational Media Description include recommendations, suggestions, and best practices, culled from an extensive literature review, that were then subjected to a consensus review process by experts in description and education of students who are blind or visually impaired.
