[accessibleimage] Re: World Haptics 2007 Call for Paticipation

Hi,

Based on some of the papers given at EuroHaptics this year I would say that papers on tactile images would fit into the overall theme of the conference, EuroHaptics even had a session on tactile I/O in general. Having said that, I would expect the majority of the World Haptics Symposium to be related to hardware and software, maybe with more of a VR influence than EuroHaptics as the World Haptics Symposium incorperates the haptics symposium that usually runs as part of IEEE VR. So, competition for slots in sessions that have tactile content might be tight.

I'm planning to be at WHS, or at least I'm planning to submit something, whether it gets accepted is another question.

*************************** Call for Participation ***************************

World Haptics 2007

( Second Joint EuroHaptics Conference and
Symposium on Haptic Interface for Virtual Environment and Teleoperator
Systems)

We invite you to participate in the World Haptics 2007 conference in Tsukuba, Japan, March 22-24, 2007.

World Haptics 2007 is the premier international conference and exhibition
in
haptics. The two major conferences on haptics will merge again in one
worldwide event. This is a great chance to reach the critical mass in this
field and create a truly global community in haptics, capable of answering
the challenges and grabbing the opportunities offered by the growing need
for better interfaces to remote and virtual environments.

*** Important Dates:

Papers/sketches due: October 15, 2006
Review decisions expected: November 20, 2006

*** For general information about the conference, please see:

http://www.worldhaptics2007.org (tentative)

*** Call for Papers ***

World Haptics 2007 seeks original, high-quality research papers in all
areas
of haptics. Papers must be in English, not exceed six (6) pages in length.

*** Call for Sketches ***

The sketches (or "short papers") program provides a forum to present the
latest research developments in all areas of haptics. Sketches can provide
fresh but incomplete ideas. Sketches will be peer-reviewed and published in
the regular proceedings. Sketches must be in English, not exceed two (2)
pages in length. Accepted Sketches will have poster presentations.

*** Call for Hands-on Demonstrations ***

Hands-on Demonstrations are the best way to present effectiveness of haptic
interfaces. Proposals for the demos should include video and a one-page
description. The conference will provide basic infrastructure for the
accepted demos. Authors of the Papers/Sketches are encouraged to submit
demos. Demos without Papers/Sketches publication will also be accepted.
