[accessibleimage] Re: Visual imagery without visual perception?

Hi Steve
You probably already know about this. The Cite des Sciences at La Villette in
Paris used to have a tactile model of their building that included an audio
component. I believe they now have some more extensive plans or models of the
park (La Villette), but I am not sure if they have audio. Hoelle Corvest would
be the person to contact there. Let me know if you don't have her e-mail.

The Cathedrals through Touch and Hearing models, done many years ago in the UK,
had audio, but it was in the form of a more general audio guide, rather than
touching an area to get a related audio description.

I will try to think of others.
Best
Rebecca

Hi,

I am looking for references to museum and exhibits that include touchable
3-dimensional models or sculptures, especially if these include audio
description of parts of the exhibit that are touched. For example, I know
that at the ONCE Museum in Madrid, there are beautiful tactile models of
famous Spanish buildings, and visitors are invited to touch them. On some
of the models, there are buttons in various places, and if you press them,
you hear a verbal description of the part of the model near the button.
Does anyone know of other examples of this or similar things? I would
really appreciate the information.

Thanks,
Steve Landau
