The 1st November is the closing date for entries into the 'International
Tactile Book Competition 2008' (see below). Entries are coming in
steadily. If you know anyone intending to enter the competition, please
remind them - there's still time to take part!
------
More people are needed to take up the challenge of designing and making
books with effective tactile illustrations, for enjoyment by children
with visual impairments.
To encourage this, the Tactile Book Advancement Group (TBAG) has
launched the 'International Tactile Book Competition 2008', with awards
for the best books in a number of categories including:
- Best book for 3 to 6 years
- Best book for 7 to 12 years
- Best book for 13 years and older, with learning difficulties
- Best book by a blind or partially sighted person
- Best commercially produced book from a mainstream publisher
- Conference choice, voted for by the delegates at Tactile Graphics 2008
The competition is free to enter and everyone is welcome to participate,
whether or not they have made a tactile book before.
Full entry information and downloadable entry forms are available on the
TBAG website <http://www.tactilebooks.org/>, together with guidance and
ideas.
