[accessibleimage] Re: Tactile Atlas?

Hi Ann,

Excellent idea about the scrap booking club.

Was discussing the TTT with a colleague and she had the idea that a child could make their own interactive pictures. Also as a pre-reading skill. Sounds similar to your students who make their own maps.

Steve, what about a second user interface for younger kids? So that the kids could work together more easily together and on their own? The TTT authoring tool is simple, but perhaps could be a bit simpler for elementary school children?

Regards,

Lisa

The TTT is so simple to use that if you had one it is easy to make all sorts of other pictures.  At the Colorado Center for the Blind art class we are exploring how to self advocate for accessible reference materials.  I have just contacted a scrap booking club and asked if they would be interested in meeting at the library to figure out how we might be able to work together toward this goal.  I have a TTT and plan on making that a part of this project. I will let you know how this goes.

I have found that students have a great time creating and programming their own maps for areas or buildings they know. I am also going to work with the travel instructors at the Center on a downtown Littleton street map.
