Hello all:
VIEW International Foundation (VIEW) is conducting a survey to
determine the need for establishing a lending library of tactile materials
and models.
The idea is essentially:
1. A parent, student or teacher registers with the library.
2. Using either an online, paper catalog, phone or email the borrower
requests an item.
3. The library sends the item using Free Matter or other carier when
necessary.
4. The borrower returns the item after two or three weeks (Longer borrowing
periods could be arranged.).
5. There would be a service fee of from $5 to $10 per item to cover
insurance and handling. Every effort will be made to keep these fees as low
as possible.
If a commercially available model does not exist, technology now exists
that will allow the easy creation of three dimensional models. It is
possible
to use images from microscopes, MRI, CAT-scans, laser scanners and other
devices to produce accurate models. If you would find this sort of service
of
interest, please let VIEW know by contacting VIEW as shown below. VIEW Needs
the following information:
1. Name and contact information of potential borrower. Please note, VIEW
WILL NOT share this information.
2. If borrower is a parent or teacher, age of child.
3. What sort of items would you borrow if you could. For example; anatomical
models, animal models, insect models, models of historical buildings,
vehicles,
trains, aircraft, spacecraft, ships, watercraft etc.
Thank you.
