*CALL FOR PAPERS*

Special Issue on Haptics, Tactile and Multimodal Interfaces

/ASME Journal of Computing Sciences and Information in Engineering/

*Scope*:
JCISE is soliciting papers for a special issue on haptics and related areas.
Haptics and tactile feedback systems are enhancing virtual environments to
mobile systems and gaming interfaces. Because of the multidisciplinary
nature of this topic, we invite original research papers (9000 words) in any
discipline that demonstrates advancements in this field. JCISE will also
accept application papers and technical briefs (5000 words) that address
implementation issues. The submissions that are extended versions of
previous conferences will be considered provided it contains substantial new
material.

*Topics:*
The following is a list of possible topics. Please note that this is not an
exhaustive list and other multidisciplinary topics will be considered. ASME
guidelines limit the size of the paper to 9000 words.

    * Design of force feedback system
    * New force feedback and tactile hardware
    * Force feedback controller architectures
    * Telehaptics, shared control, and other machine mediated force
      feedback systems
    * Haptically enhanced virtual environments
    * Use of novel force feedback systems in medical virtual reality
    * New interfaces for gaming and mobile devices
    * Application of haptics in wide range of topics including design,
      medicine, training
    * Cognition and perception related issues
