[accessibleimage] Re: Mental synthesis of images

Ok, listening to both the fast and slow, I got the image of a police car
passing from my left to right behind me.  This was heard on a Sony notebook
on cheap ($29) Altec headphones.  I can try it with my Bose noise reduction
or Sony SurroundSound headphones if you think it would be better.

Of course, having grown up in Union County, New Jersey and then living in
Greenwich Village for six years followed by sixteen years in Harvard Square,
I would often hear sirens blaring with the Doppler effect in many places I
would go.  I would assume this was the police as there were no horns or
those funky sounds ambulances make.

At the very end of the sample, though, I think it sounds (for an instant -
more so in the slow one) like something robotic.  Kind of an R2D2 effect.  

What is it suppose to sound like?

Thank you for posting these interesting notes about
generating images in your mind. This of course lies
at the heart of The vOICe approach where arbitrary
image information is provided via sound, and it is
left to the brain to try and learn to (re)synthesize
the original visual view.

I wonder, given what you say about John's AGC, how
well can you mentally "see" (visualize) a view such
as in the sound file (direct URL to short wav sample
follows, so set your media player to auto-repeat)
