++ Books on Tactile Graphics
In keeping with the spirit of the conference, The Swedish Braille
Authority, The Swedish Library of Talking Books and Braille (TPB), are
kindly providing 2 books on tactile graphics for conference
participants:
- Tactile Maps: guidelines for the production of maps for the visually
impaired (2003) by Yvonne Eriksson, Gunnar Jansson and Monica Strucel.
- A guide to the production of tactile graphics on swellpaper (1995) by
Yvonne
Eriksson and Monica Strucel.
Every conference presenter, exhibitor and delegate is able to have a
copy of each book (printed in English) for a small charge to cover the
cost of postage.
Further details are in the proceedings which delegates will be given on
arrival.
++ Invitation to Open Meetings
At the end of the conference we are hosting two meetings which are open
to all conference participants. These meetings are designed to encourage
a co-ordinated and collaborative approach to work conducted in the
field, and to reduce duplication of effort.
- Open Meeting A: International Cartographic Association - Commission on
Maps and Graphics for Blind and Partially Sighted People. Chaired by
Jonathan Rowell
- Open Meeting B: Standards, good practice, and a future research agenda
for tactile graphics and maps. Chaired by Dr. Sarah Morley Wilkins
