Dear Dr. Fitzpatrick,

If I understand your question correctly,  then SVG gives you the possibility for "fastening" a sound file to a particular part of a graphic and still have the possibility of resizing.
This can be done in Illustrator or by hand coding a SVG.
I have made a set of SVG maps for low-vision users to be used on a PC screen ,with sound attatched. The procedure was to first make the   graphic in Illustrator, converted it to a SVG file in Illustrator and then I open the SVG file up in Notepad and hand code, giving lines, dots, polygons (new) IDs, adding mp3 files etc.
The reason I did it this way, is that I haven't fully utilized Illustrators functions here and taken the easy way out with hand coding.

You have gotten expert feedback about IVEO and TTT which were designed for the function you are asking about, so won't add anything there. Believe you can also do this with a Wacom pad.

Would be very interesting to hear about your applilcation - sounds intriguing. I hope you will keep the lists informed about it.

Best regards,

Lisa

Subject: help with images.

Good afternoon all,

I know that this is a list for blind programmers, but I'm taking a stab that
given the amount of knowledge on this list someone can crack this one for
me.

Ok here's what I'm trying to do.  Imagine that you have created a diagram in
something like Corelle Draw, or Visio or one of the adobe products.  You
save this as a BMP, Jpeg, Gif or other commonly used format.  Then, you pull
this into my application and effectively draw on top of it marking the
regions which you deem important.  To each of the marked regions, you can
then add textual descriptions (for playback using a speech synth) or MP3
audio.

Now here's the thing.  How does one keep the image and the marked region in
sync?  I have an image, and then lists of regions that I deem to be
important; but they are separate entities.  So if I resize the image, the
marked regions don't automatically resize.  (this also has implications when
we come to print the diagram on swell paper).

So my questions are:

1.  am I going about this the right way?
2.  do you have any ideas of how to keep the image and marked regions in
sync.

Guys any help you can give with this one will be very much appreciated, I'm
at a loss as to how to proceed.
